1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
SpecInspect LLC is committed to ensuring that our mobile application is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We believe that everyone should be able to search for, view, and manage product specifications regardless of their abilities.
We actively work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards within our mobile application, and we continuously improve our accessibility features based on user feedback and evolving best practices.
2. Conformance Standards
SpecInspect strives to meet the following accessibility standards:
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA: We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at the AA conformance level as the baseline for our mobile app's design and functionality.
- Apple Accessibility Guidelines: We follow Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for accessibility to ensure compatibility with iOS built-in accessibility features.
- Section 508: Where applicable, we align with Section 508 standards for electronic and information technology.
3. Accessibility Features
SpecInspect supports the following accessibility features. We are actively testing and improving support for each:
🎙️
VoiceOver
Users can navigate and explore the app using VoiceOver gestures, braille displays, and speech output. All interactive elements are labeled and navigation is structured for screen reader users.
🗣️
Voice Control
Users can navigate and interact with the app using voice commands to tap, swipe, and type. All controls have accessible labels for voice command targeting.
🔤
Larger Text
The app supports Dynamic Type, allowing users to increase text size up to 200% or more through iOS accessibility settings. Layout adapts to accommodate larger text sizes.
🌙
Dark Interface
SpecInspect uses a dark color scheme by default, designed to reduce eye strain. The app respects the system-level appearance setting (Dark Mode / Light Mode).
🎨
Differentiate Without Color
Key information is conveyed through text labels, icons, and position — not solely through color. Status indicators, verification badges, and tier labels use shape and text in addition to color.
🔲
Sufficient Contrast
Text and interactive elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and UI components, meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements.
✋
Reduced Motion
The app respects the iOS Reduce Motion setting. Animations and transitions are minimized or removed when this accessibility feature is enabled.
⌨️
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements can be accessed via hardware keyboard navigation and Switch Control, enabling use by individuals with motor impairments.
4. Common Tasks Accessibility
We have evaluated accessibility across the common tasks users perform in SpecInspect:
- First Launch & Onboarding: Creating an account and completing onboarding is fully accessible with VoiceOver and keyboard navigation.
- Login: Signing in with email and password is accessible via VoiceOver, Voice Control, and keyboard navigation.
- Product Search: Searching for products by name, barcode, or photo scan is accessible. VoiceOver users can navigate search results and filter products.
- Viewing Product Details: All product specification data, technical details, and submittal information is accessible with VoiceOver and Dynamic Type.
- Saving & Comparing Specs: Saving products to lists and comparing specifications side-by-side is accessible via VoiceOver and keyboard.
- Subscriptions & Purchases: Upgrading to Pro, managing subscriptions, and viewing pricing is accessible. Subscription management links direct to Apple's subscription management.
- Settings & Account: Account management, including account deletion, is accessible via VoiceOver and keyboard navigation.
- Team Management: Inviting team members and managing team settings is accessible with VoiceOver labels on all interactive elements.
5. Known Limitations
We are aware of the following accessibility limitations and are working to address them:
- Photo Scanning: The camera-based product scanning feature requires visual interaction. We provide barcode scanning as an accessible alternative for users who cannot use the photo feature.
- PDF/Technical Data Sheets: Some linked technical documents are hosted on external manufacturer websites and may not meet accessibility standards. We are unable to control the accessibility of third-party content.
- Data Table Contrast: Some product specification tables with dense data may be challenging to read at very large text sizes. We are working on improved responsive layouts for these cases.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier that is not listed here, please contact us at accessibility@specinspect.com.
6. Ongoing Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. We are committed to:
- Regular accessibility audits of new features before release.
- Testing with VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and Reduce Motion on every major update.
- Responding to accessibility feedback within 5 business days.
- Prioritizing accessibility fixes in our development roadmap.
- Evaluating our app against Apple's Accessibility Nutrition Labels criteria for each iOS release.
